The Day of the Dead introduced to me by two woman making piñatas after hours for days on end. My curiosity got the best of me and before I knew it, I sat listening desperate for understanding to the constant chatter in Spanish hour after hour adding tiny squares of colored tissue to the great globes. Within a month I had made Pan de los Muertos, tamales, sugar skulls, and mole. My classroom had an alter with bowls of salt and water, raw sugar cane and OH the marigolds!
