Fragments of Mending

Acrylic on canvas, silk and cotton thread, ceramic and horseshoe nails.

This body of work depicts landscapes torn apart and mended.  The pandemic highlights a world being torn apart by climate change and political systems in straight jackets.  The paralysis of the current systems overshadows human's creativity and fundamental desire for collaboration and our ability to shift the course of climate chaos.

The pieces with women show our desire to form communities of common good, equality, and social justice beyond the neighborhoods we call home.  The armor on several of the women depict shields we have constructed to protect us from the status quo and hate while simultaneously showing our determined and collective strength.
